Lonzo Ball underwent surgery for a torn meniscus in January 2022 and is not expected to return until 2023. The Bulls signed Goran Dragic to add depth to their backcourt.
Ball had the best statistical season of his career in 2021, averaging 13.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 3.1 three-pointers, and 2.7 combined steals and blocks per game.
In his first season with the Pelicans in 2020, Ball played a career-high 63 games and recorded averages of 11.8 points, 7.0 assists, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game. He showed improvement in his shooting, including a 37.5% three-point percentage.
